On June 10, Apple plans to unveil its operating system updates and possibly new hardware at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
Everyone should pay close attention to this year’s event, given the launch of Apple Vision Pro in early 2024 and the major changes expected in iOS 18, including artificial intelligence.
Software updates at
WWDC 2024
Since software is the main focus of WWDC and following Apple’s previous WWDC announcements, the upcoming OS releases will be the main highlight of the event.
iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18 and watchOS 11 should follow Apple’s usual naming conventions. Although we know macOS will be version 15, this time the name of the system has not been discovered ahead of the keynote.
The visionOS operating system is still on version 1 and has already gone through several changes in its relatively short lifetime. The company will certainly address visionOS during the event, likely with changes for version 2.
In October, early rumours suggested that the launch of iOS 18 would focus more on artificial intelligence than Apple initially planned. The development of an internal chatbot called “Apple GPT” and generative AI tests for internal customer-support tools were evidence of this.
Hardware at
WWDC 2024
Although WWDC is primarily about software, Apple often announces major hardware aimed at developers rather than consumers. Most of the time this means products like Mac Studio and Mac Pro receive updates.
There are rumours that a Mac Studio with the updated M3 Ultra chip will arrive in mid-2024, coinciding with a WWDC announcement.
