iOS 27.2: New Features, Compatible iPhones, and Siri AI Language Support

iOS 27.2 is here with Apple Music adjustments, new Messages capabilities, and Siri AI upgrades. The October 26, 2026 update also brings Apple Pencil compatibility to iPhone Duo.

One detail matters for European users: Siri AI’s availability limits in the European Union are not removed by language support. Here’s what’s different on iPhone and what features are based on your device or location

One of the big new features in iOS 27.2 is the capacity of Siri’s AI to remember things said in past talks. For example, you can ask about a recommendation the assistant made during a previous contact.

The assistant can also get more personal context, such as photographs received in Messages, attendance to calendar events, and voicemail. Answers are more relevant with Safari history and Reading List.

The improvements include:

• Support for Portuguese, French, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.
• A setting to exclude apps from access by Siri, Search, and suggestions.
• More precise text selection to copy only the parts of a response you need.

These features require an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model or later.

Siri AI remains unavailable on iPhone in the European Union and mainland China, according to Apple. The addition of French therefore does not mean users in France can access its new capabilities.

Language support and regional variants also need to be distinguished.

Apple Music receives a black and white icon, switches the active tab color from red to blue, and uses black backgrounds in widgets.

Messages suggestions help you generate events and reminders from the context of your conversations. In Settings, users have control over the kinds of suggestions they get.

Podcasts differentiates new episodes from episodes you’ve previously started. Individual profiles are now supported in the TV app, with each profile having its own watch history and suggestions.

iOS 27.2 also includes improvements across several apps:

• Photos: caption and comment edits in Shared Albums, duplicate prevention, and alerts before albums expire.
• SynthID: support to identify images created or modified with generative tools in Photos and Image Playground.
• Games: more context for friend suggestions and information about friends’ recent games.
• FaceTime: the option to add third-party sign language interpretation or live caption services to calls.

iPhone Duo now supports Apple Pencil (USB-C). Not compatible with Apple Pencil Pro & other variants.

Dual Capture also works with Group FaceTime, allowing users to share views from both the front and rear cameras at the same time. Compatible smart locks will get automatic lock options and door-left-open notifications in the Home app.

This final version does not include the beta version of the re-designed Health app.

iOS 27.2 is available on iPhones that support iOS 27. However, access to the update does not guarantee access to every feature: some depend on your device model, accessories, and region.
