Apple has just announced the Apple Pencil Pro, a stylus that offers new features and improvements for iPad users. It has not been revealed whether it can be used with Apple Vision Pro.
Squeeze gestures
The new sensor in Apple Pencil Pro allows users to squeeze the stylus to access a tools palette and quickly change functions, line weights and colours. This makes it possible to switch between different drawing or writing modes without interrupting the workflow.
Gyroscope
In addition, Apple Pencil Pro has a new gyroscope that lets users precisely control shape and brush tools by rotating the stylus. For example, you can use it as a fan brush to create happy little trees in Procreate or as a calligraphy pen to write elegantly.
Haptic feedback
The new haptic engine in Apple Pencil Pro emits gentle vibrations when you squeeze, use double-tap or magnetically attach it. While you use the stylus, haptic feedback helps create a more realistic and immersive feel. It is the first Apple Pencil with support for the Find My app, which helps users locate the accessory if it is lost or left behind.
Compatibility and price
Only the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air models, which have a new magnetic interface, can use Apple Pencil Pro. The stylus can be charged and stored on the side of the iPad. Starting today, users can order the stylus, which will be available on Wednesday, May 15, and costs 149 dollars.
