Apple recently held a special media event in New York to highlight the new gaming capabilities of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This low-key event served as a showcase for the innovations Apple plans to introduce with the launch of iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia.
Game Mode, one of the most anticipated features of iOS 18, promises to improve the gaming experience by reducing background activity to prioritize game performance and boosting CPU and GPU performance. In addition to improving responsiveness when used with wireless controllers and AirPods, it is expected to further enhance the overall gaming experience.

M4 iPad Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max: ower and Precision
The event featured demos of games such as Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, as well as performance showcases for the new M4 iPad Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Backbone controllers were paired with the iPhone 15 Pro Max demo units, and PlayStation DualSense controllers were available for game demos on the Mac and iPad.

iOS 18 reduces audio latency and adds dynamic head tracking for games to the AirPods’ Personalized Spatial Audio. This is part of Apple’s ongoing effort to improve the gaming experience across all its platforms, especially with the rollout of Apple Silicon on the Mac.

The company’s “Game Porting Toolkit” makes it easier for developers to bring games from macOS to iOS. This represents a significant step toward unifying the gaming experience across all Apple platforms.

With these improvements and updates, it is clear that Apple is focused on raising the bar for gaming on its devices. The gaming community is eagerly awaiting the official release of iOS 18 in the fall of 2024. Until then, players and developers can start preparing for a transformed gaming experience on Apple devices.
