After the release of iOS 17.4.1 last week, Apple has just launched a new update for the Mac. Today, the Cupertino company released macOS 14.4.1, which includes security improvements and bug fixes for Mac users. Here is what is new in this version.
USB hubs connected to external
monitors might not be recognised
This update fixes an issue related to the detection of USB hubs connected to external monitors. Some users reported that when their USB devices were connected through these hubs, they caused failures or disconnects.
Protected Audio Unit plug-ins would
not open or pass validation
macOS 14.4.1 also addresses problems with copy-protected Audio Unit plug-ins used in professional music apps. Some of these plug-ins might not open or pass validation, which meant users could not use them in music projects.
Apps that rely on
Java quit unexpectedly
Finally, an issue affecting Java apps was fixed. Some of these apps quit unexpectedly, which could lead to loss of data or work. To resolve this problem, Apple advises users to update to this version.
To update to macOS 14.4.1, Mac users can go to System Settings, select General, then Software Update. The macOS 14.4.1 build number is 23E224. The update is rolling out now, but it may take a few hours to appear on all Macs.
