After Apple added support for alternative app stores in the iOS 17.4 beta, Epic Games promised to launch its own dedicated app store to offer games such as Fortnite and others for the iPhone. The company has not yet revealed an exact launch date for the Epic Games Store for iOS.
Epic Games criticises Apple’s DMA compliance plan
Epic Games criticised Apple’s plan to comply with the DMA (Digital Markets Act), a new EU law that regulates digital gatekeepers. This happened even though the company is working on a separate app store. Sweeney said the games company will continue to “argue to courts and regulators that Apple is breaking the law”, and he described Apple’s plan as “a new instance of malicious compliance”.
