With only Samsung’s mid-range smartphones appearing on the list, Apple’s iPhone models topped the ranking of the ten best-selling smartphones in 2023. The best-selling model of the year was the iPhone 14, which accounted for 19% of total sales.
Growth in
emerging markets
Strong growth in emerging markets such as India and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) contributed to Apple’s stable sales. In 2023, iPhone sales in India surpassed 10 million units.
ANDROID MARKET FRAGMENTATION
Although Android devices represent around 70% of the smartphone market, the heavy fragmentation in that market allows individual iPhone models to lead the best-seller lists, while the many Android models combined still exceed the few iPhone models in total sales.
Outlook for the
iPhone 16
There are high expectations for the iPhone 16’s performance in the market with the launch of iOS 17.4 scheduled for March, mainly due to strong demand for Apple products and the efficiency of its ecosystem.
