Apple fans, who now have access to the iOS 18 Public Beta, have the opportunity to try out the innovations that promise to change the way we interact with the iPhone and iPad.

HOME SCREEN CUSTOMIZATION

In iOS 18, home screen customization was one of the priorities. Users now have much more control over how they arrange icons and widgets, and can leave blank spaces for a cleaner, more personalized look. In addition, the new icon colors and dark modes allow each iPhone to express its owner’s personality.

Redesigned Control Center

The Control Center experience is now easier to understand and customize. Third-party apps can expand iPhone functionality by adding controls using the new API. This includes the ability to interact with connected devices, such as starting the car or managing smart home devices.

New options on the lock screen

The lock screen now allows you to customize quick controls, replacing the default flashlight and camera buttons with any functionality from Control Center, including third-party ones.

IMPROVEMENTS TO
THE MESSAGES APP

With new text effects and support for RCS, the Messages app improves communication with devices from other brands. In addition to sending messages via satellite, it is now possible to schedule messages and use any emoji for Tapback.

REDESIGNED PHOTOS APP AND SAFARI

The Photos app has been redesigned to offer a more organized and intuitive experience. Safari can now summarize web pages and quickly highlight important information.

Artificial Intelligence and Security

iOS 18 introduces Apple Intelligence, with AI features integrated into the operating system. This includes writing tools to rewrite, polish, and summarize text in apps, as well as generate personalized images with Image Playground. Security was also strengthened, allowing any app to be locked with Face ID or Touch ID.

New Passwords app

The Cupertino company finally gave us a dedicated app for website and app passwords. Included in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and visionOS 2, it provides access to all passwords and passkeys stored in the operating systems.
