Netflix has announced that it will end support for the 2nd-generation Apple TV and 3rd-generation Apple TV as of July 31. This change is intended to maintain and even improve the viewing experience for users.
Impact on older models
Released in 2010 and 2012, respectively, the 2nd- and 3rd-generation Apple TV models will no longer support Netflix. These models came with pre-installed apps and do not have the tvOS App Store.
Users with the 2015 Apple TV HD or newer will not be affected and will be able to continue enjoying Netflix without any issues.
Other streaming services have also already dropped support for these older Apple TV models, following a trend of technological upgrades.
To continue accessing Netflix and other services, users will need to purchase a more recent version of the Apple TV.
