Apple recently announced the new Mac mini M4, a compact computer that promises incredible performance and a refreshed design. Let’s go through the main new features of this model.
The new Mac mini M4 comes equipped with M4 and M4 Pro processors, depending on the configuration, which offer significantly improved performance compared to the previous model.
The M4 processor has:
- 10-core CPU
- 10-core GPU
While the M4 Pro offers up to:
- 14-core CPU
- 20-core GPU
This means CPU performance is up to 1.8 times faster and GPU performance is up to 2.2 times faster than the M1 model.

Compact and efficient design

One of the highlights of the new Mac mini is its compact design. At just 5 by 5 inches, it is less than half the size of the previous model. This design was made possible thanks to Apple’s innovative thermal architecture, which directs air through different levels of the system and vents it through the base.
Improved connectivity

The new Mac mini offers improved connectivity with two USB-C ports on the front, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, one Ethernet port and one HDMI port on the back. The M4 Pro version includes Thunderbolt 5 ports, which provide data transfer speeds of up to 120 Gb/s. In addition, the Mac mini supports up to two 6K displays and one 5K display with the M4 version, and up to three 6K displays with the M4 Pro version.

FIRST CARBON NEUTRAL MAC
The Cupertino giant highlights that the Mac mini M4 is the first carbon-neutral Mac. The company has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 80% across all stages of the device’s development and sale. This makes the Mac mini a more sustainable choice for consumers.
Availability and pricing
The Mac mini M4 starts at 729 dollars, with the M4 Pro version priced at 1,679 dollars. Pre-orders have recently begun, and the product will be available starting November 8.
