Sale Price
The Apple Vision Pro sells for $3,500 in the 256 GB storage version, a price that already covers production, assembly, packaging and the total cost of the components. However, if you separate all the parts and lay them out on a table, the total cost does not exceed $1,542.
Components and Costs of the
Apple Vision Pro
The iFixit website has already done us the favour of taking it apart, and the complexity of this device is impressive. The 1.25-inch micro-OLED displays supplied by Sony are the most expensive components and cost $228 each. It also includes the innovative M2 and R1 chips, probably where Apple spends most of its money. The R1 chip handles processing for the cameras, sensors and microphones and sends images to the displays in 12 milliseconds.
PRODUCTION AND EXPECTATIONS
The Cupertino company estimates a production volume of around 400,000 units of the Vision Pro in 2024. This project has been active since at least 2008 and involves high research and development costs. We know that Apple keeps a large share of the profits, otherwise it would not be a profitable company, and only the company knows the true cost of the Vision Pro, since the table above refers only to the materials.
