Apple has revealed the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, a new generation focused on photography, processing power and battery life. Both variants will be released on September 18, 2026, they will have the A20 Pro microprocessor and the main camera with variable aperture.
Familiar Design and a Smaller Dynamic Island
The new models seem similar to the previous generation with a few visual upgrades. Available in four finishes: Black, Silver, Glacier blue and Burgundy.
The smaller Dynamic Island may show up to three Live Activities at the same time. The adjustment makes it easier to see information from multiple apps at the top of the screen.

A20 Pro Delivers More Performance and Better Cooling
The A20 Pro packs a 7-core GPU and a 32-core Neural Engine. According to data from Apple, the sustainable performance can be up to 40% better than the A19 Pro.
Both devices have a vapor chamber three times larger than the iPhone 17 Pro models for temperature regulation under heavy workloads. This modification is intended to maintain performance over long periods of time.

48MP Camera with Variable Aperture
The key enhancement in photography is the 48MP Fusion camera with variable aperture, which is present on both the variants. The lens allows you to manage the depth of field and the amount of light more.
Available apertures are f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8 and f/4.0. The Camera app adds adjustable professional options like shutter speed, aperture, and white balance. A histogram lets the user judge exposure.

Photographic Styles fine-tune texture and grain, and Time-lapse mode now supports 4K and Dolby Vision HDR.
Another addition is Apple Reference Image, which associates a reference image and metadata with edits to help verify a photo’s origin.
