The Apple iMac with M6 offers quicker performance, enhanced wireless connectivity, and more power for on-device AI on Apple’s all-in-one desktop. The design is still the same 24-inches, most of the modifications are under the hood.
The iMac M6 begins at $1,499 in the US. Preorders will commence on October 28, 2026, with shipping starting on November 6.
What’s New in the iMac M6?
The M6 chip offers up to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, compared with a maximum of 10 cores each in the M4 iMac. A Dual Neural Engine features two 16-core engines for AI tasks.
Reported performance improvements over the M4 model include:
- Up to 40% faster CPU performance
- Up to twice the graphics performance
- Up to twice the storage speed
- Up to five times the on-device AI performance
Note: These are maximum advertized gains. Actual results will vary based on application, workload and settings.
Memory bandwidth has also increased to 170GB/s from 120GB/s. Connectivity options for the N1 wireless chip include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while an optional 2.5Gb Ethernet connector provides speedier wired networking.

A Familiar 24-Inch Retina Display
The new iMac also sports the same 24-inch Retina 4.5K display, with 500 nits of brightness and support for P3 broad color. Higher configuration has optional nano-textured glass.
Apple also keeps the seven color options, 12MP Center Stage camera, three microphones and six-speaker system with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support.
Which iMac M6 Should You Choose?
This setup is worth considering for ordinary home use, web surfing and everyday office work. The 12-core version has greater memory, more room for demanding creative work, and a dual-external-display arrangement.
If you already have an M4 iMac, upgrade depending on certain constraints in your workflow. Memory needs, application performance, and display requirements are more important than headline benchmark gains alone.
